At the beginning of our film we have a panning shot of the trees, we put the title over this so you could see the trees in the background which i think instantly portrayed the horror genre, along with 'suspense' sound effects right away.
The majority of the opening sequence is in Black and White which was inspired by both Casino Royale and Blair Witch Project. It connotates horror genre which is what we wanted.
The editing of the beginning was quite difficult as what we had filmed didnt fit together quite as we wanted it to, and the scene jumps... however, we added loud music to this part and it works quite well!
We decided to speed some of our shots up and slow them down, however we had to be careful this didnt become comical. We speeded Jess' running up slightly, and the next shot was of Mark walking. We slowed this down and it created a contrast between Marks calm walking and Jess' frantic running. The music is the same fast paced all the way through to keep the audience alert, even during the slowed down scenes of Mark walking - again to show contrast and i think it makes it quite eery.
The '3 Days Earlier' scenes are shot in the sunshine, and have been left in colour as it contrasts with the dark/horror previously to show it all happened later, after they got lost in the woods.
We have left natural sound on this to create realism and also added some Bird sounds to connotate happiness and peace compared to the fastpaced scary music beforehand.
The penultimate shot zooms in to Jess and Mark walking together all happy.. however this shot shows that Mark isnt really a friend and is in fact planning to kill her. The medium close up raises the questions why is he trying to kill her etc and makes the audience want to watch on.
The final shot is of Marks hand carrying the stick (WEAPON), we have sloweeeeed this shot right down and have left the background noise of a helicopter on. I think this is quite eery and the [police]helicopter makes you think of murder...
